Pretty Pleats

img_9777I’m back! It has been a while since I last posted, I went on a two-week holiday and had a much needed break. The good news is I have lots of content to share with you; a new travel blog on Sri Lanka will be coming soon and my choice of outfits too!

In the meantime, for more information on what I got up to whilst I was away, there are lots of photos on my instagram: fallthreadoverheels. Come find me!

On to this outfit specifically, this is the first in a series  of holiday outfit blogs and one of my favourite holiday looks. You always have one or two don’t you that you know you’ll love more than any of the others, well this was one of them.

When doing a spot of shopping for my holiday wardrobe I was very mindful to buy those few things that would add to the excitement of going on holiday because they’re all shiny and new, whilst making sure they’d work well for A/W16 and this skirt was just the ticket.

If you’re getting some winter sun, it works perfectly styled like this or with a loss fitted t-shirt in black or cream, perhaps with a tan belt. For winter, I’ll be wearing it with black boots and a black chunky knit, with a chunky cream knit vest with a biker style jacket, or out-out with a cami and gold sandals.

When I buy something new I do try to think of a least three different styles / ways in which I can wear them so I know I’ll get my wear out of them and this skirt satisfied that criterion.

Plus this skirt has pretty pleats. I love pleats so it’s great that they’re BIG this season. They provide a feminine and sophisticated feel to any outfit. I also love the colour of this particular one as it’s rust which is one of my favourite colour trends of this season: spice world.

To enhance that bohemian vibe of this look, I added these earrings with an unusual twist and this Bardot top from Warehouse – how pretty are the sleeves on this too?

Not forgetting to mention the bag, oh how I love this new purchase. Whenever I go away I like to find something made by a local artisan, whether that be a Christmas tree bauble or a bamboo crafted bag just like this special Sri-Lanka find. I just love it’s boxy shape.

Back very soon,

Lucy xxx
