We’re nearly in to Spring, well at least it feels like it – it’s got sunnier in the UK that’s for sure!
This look combines four of the season’s hottest trends: asymmetry, earth tones, kitten heels, and mini bags. I’ve outlined why below:
- Inspired by utility styles, earth tones are big news and have even been described as the new neutrals. Think camel tones, rust, khaki, and terracotta, either worn in monotonal outfits, or all combined together like I have here.
- Bags are tiny for spring and both Valentino and Chloé showcased designs that were just about big enough for a lipstick! I happen to love the Chloé with its bangle style handle donned by so many fashionistas during the most recent fashion weeks. I also have a soft spot for my & Other Stories mini bag (it has the most amazing pom pom handle).
- With regards to hemlines, there are no rules, layered and unpredictable, asymmetric and handkerchief all appeared on the SS17 catwalks, and I think this Zara dress is perfect to take me through the transeasonal period and in, quite possibly, my favourite earth tone: khaki.
- Kitten heels, well, they have really made me paws for thought (yes, i did just say that – I can’t help it I love a pun or two) – I just never thought I’d see the day where I’d be pulling them out of my wardrobe, but in ultra chic, neutral tones and hide animal print, adding that extra edge to an outfit, I have to admit I couldn’t resist! Plus, they have been all over the French street style scene, and wherever that heads, the rest of the world soon follows.
It even combines a large ruffle – so that makes five of the season’s big trends!
Will you be embracing any of these key trends for ss17?
